Team Equine Excellence comprises of Bryan, Zoe, Ben and Janine McVicar and
staff who are working with Bryan. At the moment our staff member is Lisa
Donning who is doing a fine job of looking after the horses and freeing
up Bryans time so he has more time to spend with horses.
Bryan and Zoe both actively compete at horse shows, dressage and eventing.
Mostly Bryan's role out competing is to prepare horses for Zoe to take over.
Zoe is currently competing two horses Chandalla Ted E. Bear a 14.1hh Kiamanawa
pony. Ted is doing well out eventing and has just moved up to 95 cms. Ted E. Bear
often gets highly placed in the dressage at events and has been consistently
placed since Zoe started eventing him 2 years ago. Zoe's second horse is
Chandalla Rhythm Divine or Bonnie as we call her is a 12 year old park hack
by our old stallion Lakenheath. Bonnie is a very versatile and athletic horse
who has had wins in the show ring as well as show jumping, dressage, gymkhana
and her number one forte eventing. Currently competing in the 95 cm classes,
Bonnie is usually highly placed in the dressage and often gets placed at
events. Currently Zoe and Bonnie have been selected to compete for the Amberley
PC Springston Trophy team as an intermediate combination.
Campaigning horses on the eventing scene is a very time and energy consuming activity and involves all family members in some way or another. Janine is the manager and accompanies Zoe to events. Bryan does the initial training and some competeing as well as instructing Zoe. Ben helps run the farm, feed the horses and supports Zoe while Lisa usually catches and saddles Zoe's horses so when she comes home from school she can step straight up onto a horse.
This is why we call it TEAM Equine Excellence. Bryan believes that competing
a horse PROVES his system of training and gives purpose to his training
